idsglos thanks Ross for the great music the last few years. I didn't think I was a bagpipe fan, but this is amazing music and transcends genre. takes you to a different head space like all great music. LAS album great as well. Hopefully you can tour or do a few festivals in 2023.... Favorite track: Chaos Live.

tenorgman An album that speaks to the soul. The melodies are important, but it is the overall texture of the music that binds you in. Love it. Favorite track: Easter Live.

John Gough I love the studio album and this one has a different quality: still very rhythmic but with a reflective air, and the music glows with a sense of hope amidst the joy and sadness that has shaped the music. An album that continually reveals its depths, like all great ones do

about

Released in 2020, Ross Ainslie’s studio album Vana was released to critical acclaim. With the support of Creative Scotland to record the album live with an accompanying film, 'Ross Ainslie & the Sanctuary Band Live at the Gorbals' became a vehicle for more than a simple recording of musicians playing an album live off the floor. It provided an opportunity to explore the deeper meaning behind Ross' compositions and his life in music. This insight has been visualised in the stories of all the band members demonstrating the high and lows of their lives in music.

The root of inspiration: the what, the when and the why - music is more than vibrations in time. It reflects the inner worlds of the
individuals who write and perform it. This film seeks to explore these mystical charms whilst simultaneously showcasing the intense skill of musicians, revelling in the opportunity to play complex music together as one.
